Target Sundays at CAAM, January 16, 2011 – "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration!"

Mark your calendars to join us on this special weekend celebration with co-hosts singer Freda Payne and actor Jeffrey Anderson Gunter!  Each year on this particular Target Sunday we bring you performers to our main stage representing the myriad of cultural communities in the Los Angeles area.  You can also view film screenings of Dr. King's speeches over the years that highlight his legacy.  The live program begins at 1pm and includes the Lula Washington Youth Dance Ensemble, Iyanla Vanzant, Las Cafeteras, Azure Antoinette, Taiko Center of Los Angeles, Swing Brazil Tribe Dance Company, Abraham Mcdonald, and DJ N'Namdi.  Remember that we also open our doors on the only Monday of the year for "Cake for King" on Monday, January 17 to remember Dr. King's birthday.  Happy Holidays!

    Museum opens at 11am

    Program begins at 1pm

And remember, this event is FREE! Parking is at 39th and Figueroa Streets and is $8 per vehicle.

The MLK celebration is great for all ages, but some of the exhibits, like the one on slavery, are intense for younger and sensitive kids.
