EAT REAL festival in Culver City, July 16 and 17, and see how food is really made or grown. Volunteer opportunity to valet-park bikes!

Amidst food trucks selling everything at $5, families can learn by seeing demonstrations of how cheese is made, bread is made, how food is canned or pickled, and even how to raise chickens :)  There will be competitions too.

This is the official description:

Eat it. Make it. Grow it.

Imagine a combination street food festival, county fair, and block party where people can come together to celebrate good times and fresh, local food. At Eat Real, we’ve created a space where not only can you try tasty, handmade eats and drinks, but where you can also discover where your food comes from, meet the people who grow and make it, and learn how it’s made. You can even try your hand at making it yourself.
With free entry and no food item costing more than $5 – all food includes local, organic, and sustainable ingredients – we believe eating real does not have to mean eating real expensively. Really.

Eat Real Festival
July 16 and 17
Helms Bakery District, Culver City
8800 Venice Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90034

Since this is the Carmaggedon Weekend, our friends who organized the LA River Rides are looking for volunteers at booths and to valet park bikes.  Contact Martin Lopez-Lu below if you wish to volunteer.

"Upon arrival at the festival, avenging angels (aka bike valets) from the Culver City Bicycle Coalition will park your bike and watch it while you indulge and imbibe wantonly! (Angels wanted…contact Martin Lopez-Iu at martin@la-bike.org. Angels receive free food, drink and t-shirts from Eat Real). There will be a raffle and other angels from Bikerowave will be on hand to do light repairs."
